Very well composed, excellent job. Myself, I'd do a little postwork to get rid of the grainy DOF.

Very nicely done. We have a British example of this type of chafer which is metallic green in colour. Not only have you rendered the beetle well, but this is precisely how I have most commonly seen our British specimens - sitting in the middle of yellow Compositae flowers. My only suggestion is based on the British species and may not be true for yours (assuming the model is based on a true species) - the body seems a little flat; the elytra in particular should be more arched down the mid-line.

The initial model was an african 'Stephanorhina' (not sure of the spelling !)which is metallic green with red-brown flaming and creamy depressed spots on top of the elytras. I agree with you that the European green beetle is more rounded : I caught on one this spring, sleeping in a blue Iris but hadn't the heart to disturb the chap for closer examination... The grainy depth of field could (should!) of course be post worked but I stubbornly try to get things straight out of Vue and obviously I should try other parameters... Many many thanks for your feedback all of you, it touches me especially as this pic is my first submission to the gallery where I've seen so many masterpieces...

Extreme close-ups are hard to do with Vue and are rare in this gallery. You did a fantastic work on both modeling, light and use of dof! Excelent image!

Great beetle and flower. Like the dew drops. I wonder though if the legs don't look a bit stiff? Great work. Thanks for sharing.
