There was a discussion about lighting in 2D Forum. I had to try... Dancer hand drawn and scanned, otherwise done completely in Paint Shop Pro 7.

The dancer looks very cool, and in this situation, given the differences of style between her and the background, I'd say the background works, too, adding the impression of a stage and spotlight. It definitely makes it clear she's not out dancing in the street or in the fields. Good job! :)
