Description

I finaly colored it. And not at all happy with the results. Hope you enjoy it, cause it's gonna be my LAST colored work for a VERY LONG time. I've had it with trying to color with a mouse, so I'm just going to draw/ink my work from here on in.

Don't give up! There is a very nice little tool called the wacom tablet! The cheapest pen is around $90 and I love it! I stopped using a mouse a long time ago.

Unfortaintly one needs money for stuff like that. And since I havn't been able to find work in over a year, there's NO chance I'll be getting it. Life Sucks. :(

Don't matter how you get it ([mouse or tablet]) if the result is so gorgeous like this. I like it a lot! :)

please don't give up! Over half my gallery is done with a mouse. I know it's tough, but it is do-able. Keep trying, your results are getting better.

Thanks for the concerns and comments all. The major pains are my scanner and mouse. The Scanner never works like it should. And nomatter how much or often I clean the mouse, it does as it wants. It's a stationary mouse w/ball on top. It'll either move on it's own or completly go in the opposite direction I want it. But the 2% of the time that they both work, coloring is a dream. That 2% is not enough.

Unfortaintly, I have NO money. (:( little history on the above character. In 1998 I drew her for the 1st time. No idea where the pose came from, so don't ask. Every 2 years since that vary day, I've redrawn the same character in the same pose, never useing the past version as visural refeance. I basically do it from memory. This helps me see my progress in art over the years. Anyway, The next attempt is this coming January 1st. And Since I won't be able to draw her on the computor (as I plained), do any of you have any pointers for drawing it (on paper) that might help it scan better?

Those jaggies are from either from scanning at the same resolution you create teh final at, or, from a low res scan. Draw her as big as you can, and scan herat like 300 dpi. Then, when you bring her into your image editor, color her, merge all layers down, and then resize the whole image down.

She looks good...what's missing is the "black ink" line art! She kind of looks like Comic Book Style postwork without the line art. Tina up above is correct about the Wacom Tablet...that's the way to go. If you have "little money," go to Ebay and look for used units. I've seen wacom tablets go for 30-40 bucks. I believe Wacom also sells refurbed units at a discount price. A 4x5 Graphire refurb is only $80. http://wacomdirect.wacom.com/wacomdirect/reftablet.asp? Digital Art Tutorials http://digitalarttutorials.com/ have some really good video cds on coloring that are fairly inexpensive. I'd recommend the ones on Anime Style or Comic Book Style to begin with. They also have a forum for aspiring artists to "Ask the Pros" on how to do things like "scanning in line art" or "how do I get this effect?" Hope this helps!
