Nice work...light touch, minimum line, replaced by shadow...it is smudged which detracts from it a little, but good work.

you're probably shocked to see a comment going all the way back to 2003, but I've seen you on RR since I came here and never really got to know the range of your work. I'm aware of the many things you've done, as an artist, from your bio and from others who've known you here. And I think artists forget about the background of their fellow artists...but to me, the range of your work as well as the number of media in which you've worked, as well as your extensive professional experience, shows how much you've done, and how broad the scope. I was a pro for some years, but visual art was never my first art (classical music and jazz were), so I never went nearly as far as you have. I'm a student in your world. But I know the field well: the deadlines, working on assignment, fitting one's artistry to the client, learning to not be 'precious', learning to do the job, to find solutions, etc. It's why, when I hear that an artist has done pro work for many years, I take notice. But beyond all that, you've spent a lifetime creating art, honing skills, deepening your vision, and I deeply respect that---esp when it results in the constant high quality you've produced for so long. I voted for you, for Artist of the Month; and I wondered if the dearth of other nominees is because the nominators felt you didn't have much competition. If I'm messing around in your back-gallery today, take it as a compliment: It was about time I did this. You have a huge range of wonderful work, and I wanted to spend some time with it after all these years. This is gentle and masterful. Fine lines and shading. The angle (I almost said "pov") is simple and very expressive, and the free manner you used in her hair is enough to suggest a whole personality. (In figure drawing class---at which I sucked, btw---our teacher always said, "the hair can tell the whole personality".) Wonderful lips and nose, a beautifully defined chin, etc. A fine and delicate portrait. I wish your fans could see pieces like this, today, so they could see how far ranging your work has been...beautiful.
