Description

The submersibles are boolean constructs I slavishly copied from a render by a master (Clay -- see http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=10174&Start=80&Artist=clay&ByArtist=Yes to view the rendering I worked from. Unfortunately, it was harder than all hell to render. It would hang up at 18% of the antialias each time I tried. I finally plop rendered it in bits and pieces to find out where the problems were, saved between each plop render, avoided rendering those spots where it hung up, and then fixed them in post processing.

Aw man! That's gotta be a pain when that happens. I've got a problem where Bryce crashes when I save a scene where I'm doing a bunch of Horse Chestnut trees. Doesn't crash on other trees, just the one I need. Good result on plop renderings and post work. Love the shadow effects. :-)

Which parts did it hang up on?

It hung up on some really odd places. One was the left tip of the upper sub. Another was a section of sea floor in the bottom left. It wasn't like these were areas where anything significant was going on. It was just plain strange.
