Good scene, but the light needs alot of work. Too much ambient light...

yes i agree with cdggambit, the ambience is way too high, and maybe give it a little orange tinge on the top of the ship from the orange star above! nice image though! ;-) (fri night and im on the net........sado)

I think the lighting is superb, and so is the entire image - I love the colors. Well done!!!

I also agree a great composition, but the lighting is off. First the model is lit from undefined sources and the ambient is up too high. Ambient should be at Zero and make sure if your model is lit by a bright source the view should be able to identify the lightsource. In this scene you have a very bright light source directly in front and slightly below the model. Yet the back and insides of the model are strongly lit when the should be in shadow. A tip is to remember that to have a great image the viewer does not necessarily have to see every last bit of detail in the model. Work a bit on your star field also, you have a good start but it is a bit too uniform and sparse. Great stuff though.

The background could use something more, I suppose, but I believe this is an excellent render. The obscure lighting does match with the scene, since you have a mild light source above, and a bright light source below, and when it comes to starships, there is no such thing as "too much detail". I hate these dark pictures of ships, where I am left wondering "What does it really look like"?

i like the lighting. the planet in the background could be a moon of a planet behind the ship. This would cause light reflection to illuminate the back. The lighting in the back is much lower than that caused from lens flare effect which shines on the front. i think the starfield in the background is fine but seems too uniform only because the nebula seems a bit flat and sparse. other wise a terrific render. great job
