Description

Posted: Fri Nov 07, 2003 11:25 pm Post subject: Charlie's Game -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Charlie had played this game before. He'd never lost. After every checkmate he knew she'd be back sometime. And he saw her. She came often. Sometimes for him, sometimes for others. He'd seen her in the fields in '52 at Kumhwa. He'd seen her at Saigon in '64. He'd seen her in the halls of the VA hospital he used to volunteer at. He saw her in his hospital room after his heart attack in '94. He saw her again now. Charlie was a good player. He had played the game with her nearly everyday for the past month since the 911 call. She rode in the ambulance with him... waiting. He was tired and didn't want to play anymore... Maybe he wouldn't. Charles M. 1932-2003

Its a great concept, and the story with it is probably the reason I liked this image as much as I did.
