They look like exotic claws reaching out of the tree! Haven't seen Birch regularly since I lived in the Midwest... I miss it. Fantastic shot Misha. :)

Great shot. Not sure what kind of 'shroom these are, they look a bit like Oysters, which grow on the alder trees on the coast. If they are, they're as good an eating mushroom as you'll ever find. Would be worth getting them identified. Mushrooming is a rite of fall out here, great fun, great eating, occasionalluy great money.
