Description

Another one of nature's enchanting displays. This is a first attempt of photographing through a telescope. 4.5 Newtonian and a 4MB Nikon. Thanks for clicking my pic. Did you see this last night? Why not leave a short comment and tell us where you were and how it looked.

Oh, and there are two stars visible in this picture. The one on the left is in "red shift" traveling away from us and the one on the right is in "blue shift" traveling towards us. The colors are created from the Doppler effect. The same effect happens when a train travels towards you it has a high pitch sound and when it passes your location and starts traveling away the sound drops to a lower pitch.

Fantastic! So neat of You to take this picture and through your telescope! Yes, I looked at the Moon last night and thought it was really neat! It seemed to slowly get Orange and then little by little seen it get darker and as the Earth's shadow fell upon it it became a sliver and then was gone for a few minutes. thanks so much for sharing this really neat Picture!

This is an excellent shot. especially for a first attempt. Methinks you'd have been better to post it in Photography, it might get more play. I had to come looking for this.
