I love the transformation of digital art thoughout its short history. I remember watching in fascination as line rendered graphics were synchronised with real video to produce what are now very simple TV commercials. Slowly this fascination has become diluted as many surreal digital images and animations pass our eyes, yet still the imagination of our artists draw quick and perfect worlds never before dreamed, giving us greater pleasure at a quicker pace than ever thought of possible.BIOI drew my first digital picture in 1977. It was produced on a small plotter from a computer with only 3k of memory. I had to reduce the amount of points within my picture to accomodate more manipulation of the image. It's great now for the amount of fantastic software and fast hardware that is available to begin producing what is in your mind very quickly. The artists of past would be envious of the simplicity in which we can now take our thoughts and produce our art. Its great to be in the digital age and I look forward to each advancement as it gets nearer to a true unleashing of our imaginations.

Nicely Done!

oh my god! this is absolutely awesome! if you can add some "spray" from the waterfall and maybe foam (in lack of better word) you might give it a look more like a real waterfall.
AlanD
You're more than halfway there with the water! Just the spray to add and you'll have the best tumblng water I've seen. Not just a plain boring vertical waterfall.

Your very close to a fine piece. Just don't let the water be going both ways, up and then down the same hill....unless of course that is your intent :-)

Wow scott this looks fantastic , the water looks so real , well done:-)

Excellent WIP! Only a little spray or white churning foam is the only thing it needs. My hat is off to you for taking on the Vue water nightmare. I have worked on it until I can't stand to see it anymore! I can't wait to see the finished product!

Love the foreground, but you really need to do something to push that backdrop away. DOF, haze?

Nicely done the water looks very real.

My first thought was Wow! - the second was yesss!! Then I had to read that's not the final version. You asked for comments for improvement: I think about the water and the background everything has been said - in my opinion there's to much highlight on the rocks. But it's already an excellent work and beautiful image. Can't hardly wait to see the final version...

those rocks look amazing, especially the textures! i love everything about this scene, the pov, the water and definitely the veggies! outstanding work as usual scott!!!!

I get the feeling too, Scott, that the waterfall is going down two sides of the hill. I think the background would be fine if you add a bit more haze or fog to make it more distant. Looking good!

I think most is said - a little spray on the water and just a fine tuning on the light in the foreground. The background looks a little sketchy, needs maybe some more details and/or a coverage by additional foreground elements. Is there a rabbit in the image? How about giving it a companion? A skunk for example. Or a heron. Lol.

Awesome, I am curious to see your second version of the picture!!!

Well, it looks like everything regarding improvements is said so far...spray, lightning and such. However I really like the trees in the background, especially their colors. Looks like a painting to me. :)

Wow, Scott, this is gorgeous. Love the lighting as it is, and the composition is top notch. I don't think spray is necessary, maybe a bit of foam on the upstream side of the rocks, but the background with the mountains doesn't look convincing to me. Maybe screen that with more trees and bushes? Anyhow, this looks super!!

Very nice image, i like the birds on the sky!

The impression of running water is fabulous (maybe a sligthly shorter cam focal with a lower angle could do the trick for optical illusion of up/down matter)it is not that obvious... the result is already fantastic!

Beautiful water. With the rocks it's a great effect. Vegetation nicely placed.

Looks great, but some foam and stuff would be good :)

Well Scott....I think everyone else has already said it. Well done. Look forward to the finished render.

I agree with timefighter! Well done!!

Excellent landscape and water effect!

Beautiful image! ;}

This is an awesome achievement already. My first reaction was "great work on the water" and "too much contrast/exposure". Also, I'd try to apply a transparency function to the terrain fir trees, often this makes them look more "real". Keep it up.

Fantastic image!! I think it is rather perfect as it is .. Excellent water and use of vegetation. Very well done!

Great Work, I like it and can`t understand, what you want to change. Beautiful image!

Impressive play of light, shadows & numerous details gives a very unique atmosphere to this beautiful scene. Perhaps more attention should be given to rocks - low res meshes & sharp dark shadow don't look very realistic. But who said that a masterpiece have to be photorealistic - tak a look on Picassos paintings ;-))
