Description

This is a forest in the backyard of a house I created. It is made for animation hence it is hard to make it super realistic and keep the render time feasable. The trees and leaves blow in the wind. There are some 600 flowers, 600 fern, and 150 or so small and large trees. This is merely the front of the forest, the forest goes probably 3 times as far back and there is a small stream. I love getting critiques, let me know what you think needs improvement and what is working well already. I'm not sure if I'm just going crazy but I found it hard to get my thumbnail and image to be the right size and still decent quatlity, how are some people putting up huge images that are still really crisp in detail? Thanks for viewing!

for low game work this is great, a litle more contrast mybe would spruce it up, it tends to bland out in the ferns. as far as crisp images in thumbnails and posting, i just now figured that out as well. what i did was save my image as a targa format, take it into photshop and then save for web, in the save for web menu choose optime to file size and set the file size you need to meet for uploading, it will save it as a gif but its pretty high quality, same thing with the thumb, reduce image size to 200x200 or whatever you want, save for web and optimize file size.

after you animate this and make it into a movie, I REALLY want to see it, as this looks fantastic

Some variety in the tree bark texture would be nice (i.e. not all trees the same). Otherwise, this is very cool. The lighting feels natural, and the leaves are wonderful.
