Description
H.M.S. Victory is breaking through a bank of mist,
when leaving the port of Gibraltar, to join the ships
of the british fleet in hunt of the combined french
and spanish armadas that endanger the british homeland. Nelson is departing for his last voyage, to
find death and eternal glory.
H.M.S. Victory, the superbe model by the hankster has
been seen often recently. This is my version of that
theme. It's an older image. The Victory was the first-ever model I bought via internet!
Hope you like it, comments are always welcome and thanks for viewing!

Pauli, Thank you!!!! So many people have used this model and not really used it accurately. You are the first poster I have seen that has used this ship in a fairly accurate way. I have commented many, many times to the others about their versions, to help them make their images better, it's refreshing to view this and not have to set someone historically straight. Most people just plop the ship in a scene and be done with it. Hankster provided extra sails and flags for different weather conditions and sail configurations, but people don't research and remove the extras when rendering an image of this ship. You did. Bravo. I like how the ship is ghosting along past the Rock, the ship quiet for the night. Is that a solitary light in the Admiral's cabin? Or Flag Captain Hardy's? Nice touch. Just a couple of small things that might add to the scene. Cut back on the moon rays and bump up the contrast of the moonlight where it falls on the sails and ship's side and on the Rock too, it would make it more dramatic. Also, remove the birds over the Rock, birds usually don't fly at night ;o). And last, maybe bump the ship over to the right just a little and add 1 or 2 ships in the distance behind the flagship, showing she is leading out the fleet. Make them very indistinct, but still viewable in the distance. Also, maybe rough up the sea just alittle, not much but have a wave or two with moonlight hitting them, and the ships wake could be highlighted from the moonlight a tad, too (think phosphorescence). Okay, sorry for the rambling, this is still one of the best renderings using this model I have seen posted on this sight. Well Done!!!
