Alison Blaire aka Dazzler was a major character in the X-Men comics of the mid to late 80's. She was a popular singer who's career suffered when she was discovered to be a mutant. Her mutant power is the ability to convert sonic vibrations into various forms of photovoltaic energy, including: photon pulses, laser beams, hard-light holographic illusions, destructive force fields, light fog, hypnotic bursts of light, and levitation. I read that a new version of her in coming in Ultimate X-Men, the revamped version of the X-Men universe. She's going to be more of a punk-rock chick, apparently. I'm reserving judgement.
