I've been a 3d "hobby artist" on and off since sometime around 2000 or so. I've never stuck with it long enough to get good or to learn any advanced techniques, but when I do "play around" I have fun.
I also started messing around with vector drawing, as I can't really draw. Using vector allows me to utilize shape deformation and tweaking to create my scenes.
As of right now, July 2018, I'm working hard toward a goal I've had for a decade plus, and that is to make physical card, dice and board games for adults as well as animations and some simple video games. To that end, I'm developing my own characters in vector. The style is simplistic but I believe it will be really good once I have several items completed.

the cloud and dragonman materials could be better but this is already a great pic. :)
Heart'Song
It's gorgeous, and I think I would like it even better without the dragonman. Good work!

Thanks AprilYSH and Heart'Song. I can't see the image without the dragonman myself, as the whole image story was based around him. ( you wake up to a noise on halloween. You get out of bed and look out the window. You see nothing but the dead tree branch near the window. Assuming this was what makes the noise, you start to turn around to go back to bed when you catch a reflection of the monster (dragonman. He is standing behind you. ooooohhhhh...spooky, huh? :) As for the clouds, I agree. I do not like Vue's defaults.

Now this is cool. I especially like the lighting in it. I think the dragonman reflection was a good idea, but he looks more like a transparent dragonman out in th yard, rather than a reflection in the window. But reflecting him in the window would be very difficult; it would require intense material editing on the glass material...Cool pic, great idea, and keep playing with those skies. Vue is amazingly versatile when it comes to atmospheric effects. Once you get used to what everything does, you can pretty much get any effect you want.
Calseeor
thanks Mike! I will keep at it with the skies. I have improved on them a bit, but still have a way to go on skies with only a few clouds rather then full, overcast type skies. I hate the weird white 'streaks' that vue makes on this particular night sky. They look all blocky and out of place. I have no clue why they do that.

Wonderful work. The lighting, the mood, the reflection on the window....
