OK.. im kinda new to 3d (about my 10th image) and ive decided to go on something kinda (maybe even a little too much) ambitious... As u can see this model is far from being finished but i was kinda looking for some feedback or ideas.
I am having a REALLY hard time trying to figure out how to make a decent body for those legs...
if anyone could help with some advice/tips for the body would be really appreciated.
Comments also welcome.

I would scratch the body you've got now. Since you've got six legs, download some insect pics like bees or ants and use that as your inspiration. Maybe three spheres with tori joining each section to incorprate what you've done with the legs.

Im not new to 3D programs but i am new to building my own models. I myself love the legs they look cool. It reminds me of a little table you would use in bed to prop up your Laptop or book hehe. Cant wait to see the finished model.

Wings 3d? 3d model creator, make your model, then import it into Bryce..www.wings3d.com..only thing you lose is Boolean operations..;)

Looks great for a start. The suggestion for looking at insect pictures is a good one. If you are not into bugs, try experimenting with terrains and see what happens. I would suggest getting a free (legal) copy of Caligari truespace. Some 3d magazines give away earlier versions on a cd, might be able to get one. I use it for most of my modeling. Might be able to ask about it in the truespace forum. If you can't get truespace, then wings3d is good enough. Don't forget that a good texture can add detail without extra modeling.
