Description
Closeup of an ancient bristlecone pine in the Patriarch Grove, White Mountains, California. This is an unbelievable area, nearly as high a Mount Whitney, but with very little annual precipitation. Got a flat tire on the way out, at sundown, 10000 feet, in the middle of nowhere.. but it was well worth it!

Just a beautiful shot. I read that those bristlecones are thought to be the oldest living thing on the planet. What a thrill just to see them. Thanks for sharing this.
