Description
This is an experiment I've been meaning to try for years now. It should be a useful addition to our bag of tricks.
Observation: in the outdoors, ambient light comes mostly from the sky.
Observation: near noon on a clear day, the sky is bright white near the horizon, fading to deep blue as you look up towards the zenith.
Conclusion: vertical surfaces should have a brighter, whiter ambient illumination, while horizontal surfaces should have a darker, bluer ambient illumination.
Conjecture: this should help resolve terrain features not directly lit (that is, those in shadow that recieve only ambient light).
Experiment: drive ambient by a gradient, indexed by slope.
Result: this MojoWorld.
Conclusion: "it works even better than I'd expected."
Mo's reaction: Woo-hoo! WoOt! Someone feed me lunch now! >;^)
Enjoy.
-Mo

It seems that most of y'all are undewhelmed, but I think this is a significant step forward for realism. :-) But then, realism has a way of being transparent, invisible... ;^) -Mo BTW, I've posted a working mjw file at that link now!
