Description

*"In my end is my beginning" * Mary Stuart -------- black pencil 2b and 4b on thick paper a4 format, from these stage 1, stage 2, stage 3.Coloured pencils over the 3d stage, with wax pencils for the walls and floors.Total time aprox 1 hour and halffor November's Theme "Chiaroscuro" ---------- This piece subject homages Serious's requests to me of creating a piece involving the former Queen of Scotland Maria Stuart's death. The literary tragedies about her that interested me since young age are those of Vittorio Alfieri and the one of Schiller, but an historical reconstruction of her bold and dramathic life filled with passion, blood and intensity can be found here. I deeply enjoyed the theme for this month, and out from it I have certainly learnt better about the importance of chiaroscuro for atmospheres and realism in artworks but as you see especially in this piece, I still linked to a not fully realistic style, due I guess to my love for theater and symbologies, that I always fill all my pieces with (those who know me enough to discuss with me of my creations know even the smallest of touches has a sense in what I do). Sadly this coloured version suffers from the low quality of the scanning, determined mostly by the not regular grainy effect the wax pencils over the chiaroscuro forcedly cause. But I hope you can feel at least the atmosphere of the scene... I thank all member in 2D Forum for providing each month awesome inputs and advices to let hobbists like me not only amuse themselves, but for challengin us the most towards improving as the amusing exchanges go on. THANX Cam&the Crew!!! Next piece will be a portrait of a STUNNINGLY beautiful lady who's a member here, hsteel.Watch out on December 2nd(also watch out her artworks.. trust my advice, you won't be disappointed) and thanx for the constant support. Hugs :) :) :)

Great image, I especially like the spatial relationship formed between the dress and the stairs directly behind it. The stairs leading back are a bit questionable, but other then that, the image is wonderful. My brother caught a glimpse of it and commented on the optic blending. Its a great piece. later later.

Chaos of colors/lines. I have the impression that you made your work in haste - especially the figures on the top of the stairs. The stairs are quite strange at the bottom. Excess of the lines causes I don't see lights and shadows... I hope my comment will help you a bit. :-)

Powerful. I can't wait to have it up on my wall. (And the new walls that I will probably have if I move ;)). It really...I know it may sound a bit strange but looking at this piece it makes me really realise why I love history so much. The subject in itself is powerful as I said and you really portray it wonderfully. I love it totally..as always :) :) Great work honey! And it's a great ending of the theme I think. :)

A delightful image with a touch of the dark. Reminds me of some of the illustrations done for Poe's work. By the way stopped by your homepage. You are beautiful in that hat.

BRava!

This style is difficult for me - the qualities of this image are less remarkable - My eye is not reciving the instant gratification so I struggle with interpretation here :) - I saw a science artist do some similar stuff - So eyes open and mouth shut !

Oh, wonderful! I am so pleased to see this, so beautifully done. She is one of my favorite historical characters. :) I love the way you've composed this picture. The point of view- looking up the stairway - is dramatic and striking. Excellent work.

As always i can simply enjoy your work without giving technical advice.. I love it a lot because the colors and because you've depicted perfectly the mood.. I'd like to touch the original.. the scanned version surely lacks of the tactile in the original one.. huggles :)
