Description

This is a view of Phoenix as seen at night from South Mountain. The gleeful satisfaction I felt upon completing my little photo session was quickly replaced with the ominous realization that I was stranded in the dark amongst the critters of the night; scorpions, snakes and Gila Monsters. Like a blind man with a cane, I tapped my tripod on the ground ahead of me, slowly guiding myself back up to my car, desperately hoping not to encounter any creatures that scurry and slither in the night... Okay, I am exaggerating a little but the trek back was still more than a little disconcerting. Especially since I am not familiar with the habits of Arizona

Shots like this are well worth some scary moments .. at least if it's not me, walking around in an unfamiliar desert :). Thanks for the story but wow on that picture!

it's almost abstract in it's differing view of desert cactus versus bright lights of the city. Excellent capture. And I am glad you made it safe and sound from the creatures of the night :)

Beautifull urban nightscape. With a sticky cactus-touch too ! Some fear for creatures of the night ... me especially don't like the vampires!

Said the cactus to his partner: where quit high here, and I see lights all over. The other cactus reply's: dont be stupid, youre not a peyote. Lovely shot.

My appologies for my earlier comment. I was not saying I thought it was fake. I know it's not. It's just an illusion caused by the needles, the flash on the near cactus, and my overly technical, insufficiently artistic mind. It's a great photo, really. The only reason I would agree to the idea of posting your other photo is because I love seeing your work. Oh, and next time snapping photos in the dessert after dark, carry a blacklight. Can spot scorpions easy that way. :)
