This is really cool. One thing, baring in mind i've never seen a Chameleon, are their tongues as thick and round as that?

lookin good buddy! Would you add a slight wide bump to the tounge to make it less machined looking? Also I imaginge you'll add a bump and spec map to the skin, right?

The eye is off, the texture (skin) surrounding the eye should be part of the skin covering the head, Right now the mapping looks as if the eyes are plugged into the head and not part of it. I do not know if this can be helped without remodeling. The texturemapping should at least combine the two. The shoulder visible also looks as to be a seperate part and the skin not attached to the reaminder of the critter. The skin should look to stretch around the shoulder. The tounge should be flatter and waider at the base narrouing to the tip. The specular and especially the reflectivity values need to be rethought. Also either incorporate a specularity map or apply a specular gradient to work off of the bump mapping to gloss the skin at the correct angles. You may wish to apply a incedence gradient as well. While the specularity shown in the photograph you are using for the skin texture works in this particular shot. You can not rely on the photographs specularity coordinates to work in changing camera angles, expecially not close up. A good start though, just pay attention to the details and this should turn out well.

Just to clarify, this isn't suppose to be realistic at all. It's a cartoon chameleon, with a decent enough texture, I'm not shooting for realistic at all, hence the style of the tongue and eyes. There are a few stretches in the texture map but I'll smooth those out , this was just a quick texture test.

What can I say? This is awesome work! :o) The extra bit of DOF blurring really makes this look like some kind of extreme close up from a nature vid.

Boy, someone had a lot to say.:P I agree about the eye but I don't think there's as many things wrong with it as mentioned by pnevai. Perhaps it's jealousy.;) Nice work! I'll keep an eye out for the commercial.:-)
