Description

DAZ Freak w/ morph pack, DAZ Woodland Realms Playset1, Renderosity Marketplace Empire Knight, and the Steel Brute axe by WolfWithin13 (with Thogrin texture). The colors have been punched up in Photoshop and a camera blur added in Painter for the axe movement. Since I'm still learning Poser, I'm not trying to get too fancy with post-production. I'd rather see how far the renders can be pushed with models that I already have. This image is rendered in Poser 5 using the Poser 4 option since 5's kept locking up.

Still learning Poser? Looks to me like you know what you're doing. :)

Excellent pose and very intresting POV (like in a game). I like the blur effect! Keep up the good work!

Yes, it's very well done. The unusuel angle gives the picture extra dynamic and movement. A very promising debut.

Great job! You've created a stunning D&D-type image. The poses are perfect and I love the motion blur of the axe.

Thanks. This is only my third full Poser render, though I've been playing around with the program for a while with mixed feelings. I'm finally starting to like the results. Since I'm still experimenting with the program, I'm keeping post-processing to a minimum and trying to make full use of existing models and textures to create a complete environment. The nice thing to keeping things relatively simplistic is that anybody can achieve the same effects if they put the effort into it. I'd estimate that there's about eight hours invested in posing, laying out the image, and a variety of false starts and dead ends. A side-by-side comparison of the starting image and the final is at: http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12356&Form.ShowMessage=1557536

Lovely composition and the detailing on the grass looks superb. Did you use a bump map or displacement map on it? My one critique would be that the human's sword looks a little jagged at the edges - maybe would benefit from a little anti-aliasing.

The point of view is very good but I can't tell exactly how they are standing. It looks almost like they are just standing next to each other but it gives a feel of the ogre standing over the knight. I'm just not sure which it is.

I remember seeing this before. Interesting POV and the motion blur is a great touch. You should have antialiased it though.

look nice but can benefit from some improvements. 1st the aliasing :(, second you could have used a less dark background and insert the character better/blended better into it :) aside from that, the pose and the axe swing look nice...

I don't know if I'll ever get to fixing the mentioned improvements for the image as there's little enough time to get new artwork done. It's stuff to keep in mind for future images. The grass is just the Woodland Playset (DAZ Platinum Club)--other than using unsharp mask in Photoshop, I can't take much credit for how it turned out. I might not get an image perfect, but I'm hopefully improving over time.

I agree about the dark background, otherwise a good composition.
