Description

...inspired by a black and white photo, taken by my father in the 1950's, when he was a NATO soldier in Germany. I always loved the picture, hanging on the wall in a frame, when I was a child. Last year I a made a similar render, with Bryce and from memory. This time I actually dug out a version of the photo in "the old archives" and made this render. It doesn't do the photo full justice, but it's pretty close, in terms of composition at least. - No snow on the branches? No, there isn't any in the photo - sometimes reality can be somewhat unrealistic :) ********** Rendered in Vue, trees made in XFrog, some are alphaplanes in the background (had to do it that way, the file would have become unreasonably large otherwise, 46 mio. polys in the actual scene already). Rendertime 7 hrs. 44. min. - a little heavy, due to the volumetric sunlight & atmosphere. Some postwork in Photoshop. ********** Hope you like it - comments appreciated.

You've acheived a very photographic look, much like the original I presume. It stands out in contrast to many Vue scenes that are more idealized and "painterly". Good work.

Living in the Schwarzwald i think you captured the feeling very good. Especially for today when it started to snow - hell on the streets. Again, excellent image you've done.
