Description
I usually post just the way they come out of the camera, with maybe a little cropping, but naught else. I liked this one too much to not put it up though. I took it in a rain storm just before dark, so had to play with the brightness and contrast to show the detail in the eagle. In doing so, I lost a flat grey sky, but liked the trade. This is just as he leaps into the air. The feathers on the wingtips are curled up from the force of the first downstroke, and he has jumped into the air as he does it. In two more wing beats he was 20 feet away. The power and beauty of these birds never ceases to amaze me. Thanks for looking , comments welcome.

Excellent! When I was stationed up in Adak,Alaska I saw enough eagles to last me a lifetime. During the salmon run fishermen were on one bank of the river and eagles on the other. In the bay sea otters feasted on the ones that didn't make it.
