Description
Well, here it is again, this time rendered in the Cinema 4D XL 7 demo. I had to change the material on the handle due to the incomplete SLA implementation in version 7. Other than the floor all textures are SLA and there is one light in this scene.
This is based on an actual knife I designed and had made in real life. Expect a pic shortly.
What do you think???

Looks cool. Although, you still have hard shadows .. make em soft! :) SLA is implimented in XL7, it's just that the full product ships with SLA2.5 which was designed with for it after Maxon bought the product. I like you little ploy with the demo version :) Render big so the little demo blurb is off screen...

it is true that SLA is in V7 but it is not a full implementation. All the 2d Channel shaders are missing, atleast from the demo.Which is why I had to change material on the handle. And I deliberately didn't crop the pic to show how I got around the demo's restrictions...simple screen grab...Even at that res is only took 6 hours! Fast render engine, neh?! Oh and this is radiosity, by the way

SLA 2.5 is in shipping with Version 7.1 I bought a few days before (student license, 299.- German Marks). Good Idea! A few scratches on the blade would make it more believeable, I think. Try it out. :-)

Hehe, the knife I have in real life, has no scratches on the blade. It's smooth as a baby's butt. It's called good craftsmanship.
