Wow, he's gotten really big! Agree with dragonfly..do it! All my animals have been spayed or neutered and all did extremely well. They bounce back quicker than you or I would...LOL!

What a cute little guy! But I'm astonished that you still have some of those little easy breakable dust catchers. Perhaps one cat will not do so much damage... The operation is really necessary for him as well as for you (especially for your nose!)Don't hesitate - as a owner of seven cats I know about what I'm talking. ;-)

Holy guacamole! This can't be that same teeny cute kitten? But he's turning out quite handsome, still has that mischevious look in his eye, lol! And don't worry, neutering him is not a bit deal, he'll be just fine! And it's the best thing for him. Promise.

If he's an indoor cat and doesn't go out side and there's no other cats in the house, why nueder him? Your doing an excellent job of raising him!

He is such a good looking fellow!! He looks very healthy and obviously loved :) You are wise to neuter. He will live a longer and healthier life. He'll be less likely to roam and get in fights if he does get out doors, and won't get shot at by an angry neighbor who didn't want his precious female pregnant :) If he is strictly an indoor cat, he won't engage in the nasty habit of spraying everything in your house! It is also the responsible thing to do as a pet owner.....too many unwanted kittens generated when cats are not neutered or spayed. I was very pensive about the operation as well Davy......I too am very attached to my cats.....but they do bounce back very well. I assume you have the best vet in your region! :) If done at a young age, the neutering is as safe as any operation. I you wait until he is older....until you get tired of your house stinking from his spraying.....it may be a different story. I paid the extra to have a complete exam done before the operation to check for any thing that might cause problems. There is also a test now that your vet can give that will tell if he is likely to react adversely to the anesthetic. All of this adds cost, but if you can afford it, offers peace of mind and reduces risks. Make sure he gets all of his shots that he needs at this age and then maintain them for as long as possible. Finally.....one thing I hope you won't do Davy.....don't declaw him. It is his only protection if he does get outdoors (for fighting back and for getting away) and it is extremely painful. Keep us informed about him Davy.....I enjoy seeing the pictures and the updates :)

seems you really have much fun with sox :-) -- now i let strolch (our cat) see this picture, just to show him that there are still cats on earth which play and move --- strolch thinks he is garfield, he just eat and sleeps - looooooool -

Look at those eyes!! (maybe he is guessing what is in store? ;) But yes... makes a male cat much more loveable to humans anyway!!

Oh, he is lovely! And looks very healthy. I guess vote on the side of the operation. As sandoppe says, too many little ones not taken care of. I knoe it isn't the same concern when you have a male, but it is still a responsibility. The younger they are the easier it is on them too, so now it probably a good time. I'll try to get a picture of our Michou and scan it for posting. We had her done just before she was 6 months so as not to have little ones. I am just terrible at having to give them away. Our dog, Jasmine, was not so lucky and ended up having 11 puppies before she was a year old. Now we have 3 dogs.

He's an exceptional little fella! Don't worry about the operation - you're doing him a favour because he will likely live longer, not spray in your house, and be more loving instead of being on the prowl all the time.

months afterward ... I am sure you have learned that all the above gave you great advice - EXEPT - absolutely nothing stops spraying in the house; as you probably know by now. My boys are all "fixed" - and all spray the dront door when I am away for days - just to help me find my way home. LOL. Enjoy your companion. Cats are one of Gods miracles. :-)
