Please try a bigger render. With free version you can render 1280960 pixels. After rendering you should resize it to something like 1024768 or even 800*600 and sharpen it a bit (I use IrfanView ;-)). Go on - you are on the right way.

Nice first pic...keep working at it...but beware...Terragen is addicting. The best way to learn the software is to play around, experiment. HeikoH is right...try a larger render...the amount of detail will astound you.

Thanks for the info! And yes...it is addicting - but not as much as this site! LOL I created a few more different and larger images...posting one of them tomorrow. Since Ive never used the program or anything like it before...one learns by trial and error ;)

Hi! You've created a nice image for a beginner - you've started using surface layers too, which is great. Check out the following (fairly extensive!) tutorial on surface layers: http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/smgdl.shtml With layers, you can create many kinds of photorealistic surfaces without having to resort to plugins. I agree with HeikoH - render it at least 800 x 600 - we need to check out the detail. Try a render close to a body of water's surface (and be prepared to wait!), say 15m, and see whct detail you're missing out. Love your sky, by the way!

It has some very pretty colors. Try a sun angle that will put shadows on your peaks to bring out their three dimensional appearance. I agree with everyone. This is an excellent first render.
