For all those that hadn't been granted a chance in the first team of the Silver Gryphon Legacy, there was still service. And not all of them had come to that end by failing at some test or in falling short. There were those, dozens in fact, that had come to Syvagaard not to serve in the Silver Gryphon, but to keep an eye on things for their own reasons. Cinder was one.

Though her birthright and noble training would have allowed her easy access, and her skills were all but unmatched in the first team's multi-classed crowd, she had not desired the attention of being the spearhead of the Legacy. Rather, she was more apt to play the part of the knife in the back. She had followed the ways of her father, the High Lord of State Security, Brian Summerville. And amongst Houlifar, the Halflings of Arrallon, she was tall (almost 3' 6"), strong, and trained in very specific skills. Though her acrobatic talents were exceptional, and her skills at moving quietly and remaining unseen were keen, her true calling was assassination.

It was said her heart was sometimes as black as her hair, but anyone who said that would not understand her true motives. There was a terrible weight hanging about her soul, and its name was Lord Marshall Brian Summerville, High Lord of State Security for the Kingdom of Carellon. So as a middling, just into her twenties, she had gone east to the Houlifar homeland to learn about her people and meet others of her kind. Her displeasure at living in a kingdom ruled by humans, where she was the brunt of jokes and just another oddity at court came through to those she met, until she met the right people. When she returned to Carellon ten years later, she had grown dark and sullen. Unknown even to her father, she had been inducted into the Short Help Syndicate, the Houlfiar Guild of Thieves and Assassins started centuries before by none other than Rellik Hauselfell, the most infamous of all Houlifar Assassins.
