Description

Actual Idea by Christianfly. Sorry pal, but I wanted to make something like yours too ;) Hope you don't mind... July 16 We drove into the park region. The road was good. The first miles we drove over a huge plain without any rock or hill. There was some sightseeing though, we were watching the mountains all the time. After almost 20 miles straight road we arrived at the foothills of the Sutherland range. The hills were small and low. I stepped out the car and made a picture of the Gloriana hill. It was the highest hills we could see from here, apart from the mountains in the background. We drove further towards a little town called Sutherland. It was the only town in the Syrian Alps region and a lot of hills and such were named after this town. I stepped out of the car once more. I walked out of town. The ground was pretty dry under my feet, compared by the first plains we drove through. It seemed to be hotter here as well. The temperature was 34 degrees celcius. Too warm for a long ride, though... I stepped in the car and we drove further inwards the mountains. The road became worse. The landscape was a lot like Scotland, but much warmer and no rain ;) After 10 miles we arrived at a huge pair of mountains. The highest one is called Black hill. That's because it has black rock on the backside. We were totally amazed by the mountains. Then we drove out of the Sutherland range, into the real Syrian Alps. The landscape became even more rough and the weather changed rapitly. Too bad I don't have photographs of the rain we had there. The mountains were even bigger than the "hills" we saw in the Sutherland range. I made a picture of the backside of the highest mountain in the area. It was called Mount Habolar. Luckily the rain had stopped because of the growing temperature. It was really strange. Were we stood, down the mountains, it was almost 40 degrees and there was a lot of snow on the tops. We drove further to the south, towards the most impressive mountain in the Alps; Falco Peak. It looked even bigger than Mount Habolar. It was smaller though, but it looked bigger because of it's steep top. The evening fell and we drove towards our last destination; Lake Sutherland. It was the longest journey so far. Suddenly I stopped the car and made a picture of this beautiful sunset. The rays were unbelieveble! I started the engine short after, because I wanted to make a sunset picture with lake Sutherland. Luckily we arrived just in time to make a beautiful image of this great phenomenom. We had dinner in a restaurant near lake Sutherland. Now I stop writing, because we have to drive back to the camping again. We had a great day and tommorow we will go here again to climb Black hill. I hope the story was interresting enough ;) Thx 4 viewing and reading!

Sounds like you had a great time of it! Nice montage for the memories. I especially like the "sat photo". The black area is a lake, I presume?
