Description

Reworking the car model based on something from the 1970's. Added some parts and then hollowed out the interior. Also note that doors, windows, etc. are actually made from paired loop cuts on both the interior and the exterior surfaces. It's then a matter of bridging. The technique is a slight modification of my Wings tutorial on how to hollow out interiors.

All modeling work done in Wings3D.

It appears not to be a spline extrusion at this point. Many managers will be walking out of the studio complaining about having to have two modelling techniques and losing focus. The pressure is enormous. Some break. Confidence could be lost. Math majors blanch at the thought of a non-convex surface appearing. Maya has a very difficult approach to making holes leading to subdivision surfaces and a model of planned patches. I have found this approach very workable other than I use draw and lathe to make tires and wheels separately. Having grown up when tires switched from tubed to tubeless and then to wide oval and belted as well as Indy profiles I began with tires making earth mover tires with cleats in the spline modeller before getting my lathe. This is very clear. A pleasant graphical exploded view. For promoters we have both stuck our head in the ssame noose. Our boat has already sailed.
