I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

Terrain has lots of beautiful detail, but that thin blue line gets my attention - like "what is it doing there?" Otherwise a perfect picture.

@ everyone who has posted comments: First of all, for some reason, the appearance of this image on my PC is much brighter showing much better contrasts. I don't know why is has changed after the upload. Next, the 'blue line' isn't blue on my PC; it is bark brown and represents the constituent of granite called 'feldspar'. It generally is the divider between granite and sandstone.

Nevertheless I like your blue or violet or brown line. It's an eye-catcher, almost funny! Surface is excellent as always in your work.

This is intense. Intensely beautiful. Great work here!

This is a wonderful view of a great gorge, and looks very realistic. I agree about the blue line: it looks out of place. If it were wider and less well defined (less contrast with other strata), it would look more realistic. I haven't seen any feldspar that looked quite like that. I like the colors on your horizontal surfaces. Too bad it's not as bright here, because that's the one thing I would do: make it brighter.

Everyone else has already made the comments I would like to make. I'll just add -- that the blue ribbon adds mystery and a mystic charm to it.
