Description

I find the combination of indoor and outdoor lighting to be very difficult. Spent several hours last evening and this morning trying to get the right balance, but still not happy with it. For one thing, the figures cast no shadows. So will keep at it. The combination of indoor and outdoor light is always one of the most difficult. All photographers of this world stuggle with that. Here you did very well, makes it a very moody scene. Super.

I think you did a great job on this one. The render is clear and sharp and the colours great. One small thing would make it better perhaps - the cat is not very visible. But I really like the contrasts between light and shadow!!

LIghting is really tough! You did a nice job, but I agree with you, she looks like she is floating without a shadow....keep at it, it is a great picture!

Oh gosh! You used Poser figures!!!???!! Christie, that's a no-no!!! I love the way your outdoor lighting seems to stream through the window but I also find the fact that she has no shadow a bit disconcerting. I can't see how to fix that without another light (volumetric) inside and pointing at her, from the left... Odd cause she's casting a shadow on the table... Perhaps if you fiddled with the rug mat, or got rid of it entirely... hummm... This is where I would give up completely and paint the shadow in using photoshop! lol

Oh yes, this is excellent lighting. Maybe you should give the others advice on how to achieve this. Very convincing!

Great light effects indeed. Needs some work on her feeet as I can't tell if she is sitting on the table or standing on her foot. A slight floating effect. The light on the foliage outside is just outstanding!

You have done a wonderful job and the image is coming along well. Don't understand why there are no shadows. The model has a lot of light on her but there is no corresponding light or shadow upon the carpet giving the impression she is not standing on it. Beautiful otherwise.

Instead of increasing ambient light for the entire scene, try increasing it individually on the particular objects you want more visible. This will help bring back the shadows that should be on the rugs, etc. Keep a-going. :)

Really looking very nice as is, Christie! Can't remember if shadow's only lights or a work-around for such can be created in VUE or not?!?, but that might be another option to consider? Can't wait to see any further attempts you might try! ==steve

Have no idea what to tell you about lighting, I am too much a newbie to have all that figured out....But I must say Do Not, if possible, get rid of that rug, it is great. This image is a little spooky, it looks a lot like me, however my cat is a silver Tabby, and any time I find myself lounging around in my cottons, that Timefighter guy shows up!
