Description

Trying to get some photorealism going. Used reflection, refraction, caustics and translucency in this pic. The grapes pushed this render to about 40 minutes because of the sub surface scattering of light...I even got some veins in the grapes. :) Let me know what ya think.

The glass looks good (no black refraction), the caustics came out good, and it would seem you modeled the wine correctly in the glass (which is a major issue overlooked by most who do liquid in glass models). Most fail to render correctly because of the refraction (note how when most people render wine in a glass the wine never seems to touch the inner edges of the glass like it should in real life)... so you did a good job there. The only thing is I would tweek the wood texture to something a bit more realistic, and the grapes - I know you're proud of them because SSS is a bitch to master - but they don't look quite as good as the rest of the image. I did a still life recently and just excluded the grapes because they were pissing me off so badly. LOL! Keep up the great effort.

Thanks for the comments. I'll be adding more to this composition later. I think I'll take the grapes out and make a different comp. The liquid in glass was done with kind of a cheat. I took the inside edges of the glass and detached them. Using that, I flipped the normals and capped it. I then put it back in the glass and scaled it a bit so that it "penetrated" the wall of the glass itself. Both of these items have correct refractio IOR's. The wood is being worked on, but I think that not much of the table will be visible in the final comp.
