Description

Today was the first snow in Tokyo. We are just about at the start of the seasonal floral display in Japan, which starts with plum blossoms in late January, followed by cherry blossoms in April and on through the year culminating with chrysanthemums in the fall, just before the maple leaves turn fiery. So it was quite fortuitous finding this today while playing with UF3. Fuyu no Ume means "winter's plum blossoms". This one is dedicated to Mich

Wonderful choice of colors and the background really offsets the main image very well. I think it could do with a little more anti-aliasing, but that's just me.

Interestingly enough there is no background as such; all the elements are on one layer, colored with a second layer, and the "flowers" are a second layer group. I didn't anti-alias it at all--probably should have.

A lovely plum tree...the jaggies contribute to it's tree feeling! I hope the snow doesn't kill off the blossoms.

Nice branch of plum blossom. Makes me yearn for the buds of spring here, I just know they are there under the snow layers. Perfect image in its simplicity.

Nice and shy blossoms in Japan. - Today here in Vienna heavy snow is falling and no blossoms anywhere...
