Excellent as usual, my friend, and the crisp feeling for the lighting is certainly there - the effect is, in fact, very visible, i might say :) it even stroke me from the first moment i looked at the pic, since i had the definite feeling that the picture was devided in two.... and that is the sole observation i had to make - to me, it seems a wee bit unnatural :) dunno, maybe i'm wrong. However, a wonderful pic :) Awesome!

Great image, soooo different form your last ones. Indeed, the ground vegetation is awesome. Brilliant.

Good to see a someone using a letterbox format for the composition. The stonework is impressive and the use vegetation in the foreground is near perfect. The division of the frame in two is interesting but leaves the picture without a focus. Something in the distance on the right say, a windmill might give depth and help emphasise the lighting differences. But maybe that doesn't matter as it's an "experimental" image. As always, I'm impressed by your use of greys and greens. Thanks for sharing.

As always, top marks for imagination and arrangement. At the risk of inciting another lynch mob for daring to criticise your work, I must echo lahavana's comments: it looks slightly unnatural. The foreground lighting doesn't fit the 'feel' of the piece, hence the vegetation has a slightly cartoonish look. I know from your tutorials that you're the master of lighting, so I hope you can see what I'm getting at.

Lahavana, ThwartedEfforts : I know it looks a bit unrealistic. But realism wasn't my intend with this one, and I'll refer to my favourite saying : "Don't create what you see, but what you want others to see". But thanks for pointing it out! :) Thanks for commenting

The reflection in those leaves is exceptionally realistic. The set up of plants appears very natural as natures lovely way is. So peaceful too. An incredible job sir.

Not so sure what I think of this one, Thomas(meaning not so sure that I like it). Obviously you know what you're doing, and the outcome is "deliberate and chosen", which is the essence of true artwork and craftsmanship - so, it is indesputable as such. It's all a matter of taste. But - of course there is a "but" - the majority of the comments here seem unreflected and sort of "pavlovian automatic", as if a "Thomas Krahn" is equal of "excellence" by default (this is adressed to your audience, not you). Well, I see this as a work in progress, and I like the experimental attitude, you yourself expres. That's where the inspiration comes from - and of course a new toolbox of plants :) True art (my ponion) should not present - nor claim to be - an answer. It should raise questions. E.g. the issue of realism, a work of art raises the question "do you agree with me" (since it is an interpreation of reality, not reality itself), exactly as you mention in your quotation. - It is a question!. I could go on forever with this subject (being a "semiotic & art freak") - I'll stop and say: Full for marks for your daring and experimental work this time. Way to go.

I hope that I am not a 'pavlovian automatic' whatever that is! I know what I like and what I don't like and I have never commented on someone's work merely to pat them on the back. I love this image, the textures and the plants. You have your own unique, wonderful style and it is always excellent..this being no exception. You set high standards for yourself and for others who strive to go there.

I often try balancing the light in my pictures too. Your picture is spectacular as always. "V"

Wow Thomas! I really love the uniqueness of this one. The lighting is fantastic. I love the almost otherworldly atmosphere. It gives it an almost surreal touch. Please experiment some more! BTW superb stone wall!!
