Hi All! I'm finally getting over the holiday blahs and making some fractals again. Just picked up Chaoscope, and found this pretty thing! *grin*
For those that don't know ...Coober Pedy is the world's largest opal mine, in Australia, and the black opal is the rarest--thus the title.

Oh,I know, my son studied for 5 months in Australia, we visited and learned about those wonderful black opals, and I must say -this is a beautiful specimen - must be very expensive!

It definitely looks like an opal. There is also "Black Opal" wine from Austrailia. :-) Nice!

Such fire and flash! I have always loved the pink and purple in opals. I would say this one will be highly prized in anyones jewel box.
