Description

The science vessel "Marco Polo" monitors the transit of three planetary bodies across the face of Kochab (Beta Ursae Minoris). Ship is one of my old DOGA models. Background created in Universe. Rendered in Inspire 3D. Note for Universe users: Just an FYI, to create the mottled surface, I used the NEBULA tool, set the PROPERTIES to half of the default value, changed the INNER COLOR to DARK ORANGE, the OUTER COLOR to BROWN, and then stretched the nebula to fit over the already created orange star. I think it adds a realistic turbulence to the star's surface. Matter of fact, I bet you could even do flares if you tweak the NEBULA tool just right (I'll have to try that). Thanks for viewing and commenting.

Nice composition! The ship looks great, as well, and I'm eager to learn more about Inspire...

Very cool image. The ship looks great, very realistic. The star is beautiful, the surface was worth all of the work and the lens flare makes it look even more realistic. Great job.

.::IT's cool - However i feel the ship has a almost plastic look - like one of those Dingy's (Pls don't get ticked off at my remark it's just one persons opinion::.

Yeah, DOGA creates mostly low poly out of pre-existing components and most of the components are not as smooth as they could be. I've been busy job hunting, so I had not really had time to do anything. Just felt the need to throw something together and it turned into a test of the star's surface quite by accident. I'm not going to be ticked; I always appreciate feedback ;')

Wonderful texturing of the star! Very kind of you to let us other Universe Image Creator users know how you made such a cool effect. The engine glow on the back of the vessel is also quite nice. The glow from the viewports add realism; I'll have to give that trick a try myself! ;-)

Excellent work once again. Very good work on the sun, and the planets are well distanced from each other. The ship is most excellent too! This is a truly awesome piece, shows how close to the sun it is. great work shayhurs.
