Description

I cannot take the credit for thinking of this since it was done by Eoin Armstrong before. I did have a chat with Eoin about this and decided to give it a try. This simulation of trees was done through terrain manipulation in Bryce and subsequent editing in Photoshop of the BMP terrain (for the distribution of the "trees" ). The "amended" terrain was taken back (pasted) to Bryce for export as a USGS DEM. Importing the BMP directly to Terragen did not give good results. I did not spend hours on the textures and I apologize. This was more of an experiment for manipulating the terrain. I hope you enjoy this. Thanks for viewing !

You certainly deserve to be commended for your experimentation. Hopefully it won't be too much longer when Terragen will have the capability to add vegetation to landscapes. Excellent work Paul; and, thank you for sharing your process.

It looks damn fine to me, Paul! In Bryce, after you add the spikes in the terrain editor - simply change the brush to 'Unpaint Effect' and remove the spikes from the highest and lowest regions (or essentially where you don't want them). When you're back in the main Bryce editor, export the terrain as a DEM file. Open it up in 3DEM (free software) and 3DEM will export directly to Terragen. You might find this method handier, although the result will be similar: you've done a great job with this - very realistic from this pov!

The trees are awesome! Keep working on that. Nice terrain and surface, too.
