Description
Been a while since I posted anything. Still learning the ins and outs of 3DSMax.
My first attempt at modelling a sword. Anyone have any tips on how to get the blade more metallic like with a reflective/shiny surface?

Actually, that's not a bad sword texture for the way some were burnished, though you might want to add a fuller. The grips and hilt are perfect (though some of that particular type of sword had a bit of curve to the hilts, I prefer the straight hilt). Toss on just a little bit of distal taper to go with a fuller and you would have it just right. For a lot more on swords, you might want to visit swordforum.com or my sword site, http://adrr.com/sword/ Adrian Ko at swordforum.com models swords (in graphics applications as well as real life) and does some incredible work -- you might want to send him an e-mail about sword modeling.

not bad for starting off. Things look good but the blade looks blurry. It looks like a bitmap that was stretched on. It's almost like it was a bitmap of cement you got in 3d studio max and slapped it on and the image wasn't big enough so it stretched over the blade. I pretty much only used 3d studio for rendering and animation. I modeled all my stuff in Rhinoceros. But it does look good. I haven't posted anything lately myself probibaly since april or may of 2004. Well good luck on your work. If you really like doing 3d then you shouldn't stop. Take classes so someone can teach you things you dont know. I had to teach myself but I learned quick because of my motivation and will to learn it. Keep goin you also have nice art work. I might be posting some of mine soo too I didn't know they had that stuff on this site.
