Description
My current project in my illustration class is to depict the 12 animals of the chinese zodiac. I decided to illustrate a narrative of how the animals got ordered the way they are - according to the mythology. Ink, Marker, and Photoshop ~ 4 hours.
I know very little of this sorry, so please forgive me if I get anything wrong: The animals were fighting over who should represent the first year, so the gods proposed a race across a river. The rat won the race because he hopped on the back of the ox and jumped off at the last second. The pig was lazy and came in last.
Here's my own part of the story explaining why the obviously faster animals didn't win: I decided that the only way the slow ox could get second place was if the tiger was hunting it. The horse started out strong, but got tangled up with the dragon. The dog forgot about the race and ended up chasing the rooster around.
