Description
His thieving skills had helped. To get this far he had needed all they could give. But now...there was no hiding in the shadows. There she stood, beckoning him, her husky voice, not frail, nor loud. But it filled the temple completely.
"So tell me, daring one. Are you a disciple of The Old Code? Do you hold to the truths of Arthur? His way of honor and fealty? Or are you simply a scoundrel, come to take what you desire, not for others, but your own selfish aims? A treasure hunter perhaps? Seeking a price for great power?"
He had heard many stories, and he was puzzled in that. She was stunningly beautiful, with raven locks, a face like an angel, and her body held the promise of pleasures he did not want to contemplate at this point in time. But was it real? Or an illusion. Her voice sang out to him again.
"Silence will not aid you in this. The Harbinger is not just a lance. It's magic flows for one purpose. It is a Dragonslayer. To wield it, your heart must hold to the truths of The Old Code." I will not surrender it to a brigand. Speak! Tell me of your desire for it. Lest I have my sentries about here coax your tongue. Speak...now!"
Should he kneel in homage? She was, after all, a queen. Perhaps that would disarm her a bit. He almost grinned at that thought. She did not seem the type to be easily misled by any kneeling knight, rogue, nor even a king.
"I come, seeking the prize, for King Alamar. Our kingdom has been plagued by two dragons. Rivermard, and Thelosiun. As we speak, they roam the countryside, burning, killing, destroying all in their paths. We have no chance against them. Unless we hold The Harbinger. I..."
"Alamar?!!" Her voice was raised above her penetrating whisper for the first time. She raised an eyebrow, then spun away from him, staring up at the stars, as if looking for a sign. Without turning back, she spoke again.
"The same Alamar, who, as a young prince, sought out this place with murder in his heart? Alamar, who sought to kill me and all my kin here, because he didn't "approve" of our presence here in the outland? Alamar, who I sent home to his good father, wrapped in silk webbing and minus his ring finger? Hmm...." She spun back around.
"His father, King Rolic was my friend. I fought at his side in many battles, when his kingdom was under threat from great evils. He...was a knight of The Old Code. And it was my honor to aid him." She turned towards the lance and pointed.
"You are your king's voice and desire here. To win the lance will require a Feint of Honor. One that will not be easy. Are you willing to face your own death to win the prize? Or do you wish to scurry off, into the shadows you came from? It is your choice."
He was surrounded now by her Legions, the huge, black spiders she commanded at will. He stared at The Harbinger for a moment, then nodded, faced the queen, and sheathed his blade.
"I accept!"

Those mist effects on the ground are great! I like the feeling of wide open space in this render. The lighting is wonderfull, most of the light seems to come from the lance. Love the story too. (sequels! sequels! sequels!)
