Description
Some people have said that Jesus Christ may have been the son of Mary and a Roman soldier.
Yeshu Ben Pantera, (Yeshu son of Pantera) was born in Nazareth to Mary a temple virgin. Mary's love for her Roman soldier was intense and passionate, but Joseph her betrothed was a kind and forgiving man and swore to raise Yeshu as his own.
An idea by Arthur C. Clarke.
An amazing morph target from Syyd Ravens 'Kane'...

beautiful image Colm, excellent work here

Good work on the image- textures and 3D (especially face!). But, the Roman soldier story is from the Gnostics, who could not accept God could bend the rules of His own creation. They also insisted they were the only initiates to all "truths", regardless of religion.

Oh How cool T.Rex. I didn't know that at all. I read an Arthur C. Clarke book called 'The Light of Other Day's' in which he takes you back in time through a wormhole camera (a futuristic webcam) to watch the life of Jesus. Thankyou for the info and insight.

Interesting comment T. Rex, where this idea originated from, read it in the clarke book myself. Colm, it is so sad an haunting, this image...my morphs are nothing without you babe! Love you.

Well -done image, but I don't know if I can agree with the commentary. One of the original ways in which people sought to discredit the Christ was to develop theories as to his "real" origin, many of which sought to discredit Mary. But that's beside the point, and in any event, this is very well-done. :)

looks great Colm, and provocative comments... good work! :o)

this is a wonderful image and the story it presents is consistent with a general gnostic perspective that is is not a Christ person that one is directed to through teachings of Jesus but that to be a Christ represented a state of existence wherein those who originated in spirit awoke to their origins, those who were created by the false god Yawah were in capable of such awkening or state of gnosis (knowledge). Therefore by gnostic standards there could be many "christs"....as this was a state wherein the individual was no longer bound by the illusions and the forces of this existence. It was the Christian orthodox view that the key to spiritual salvation was granted only to the church, the gnostics that one could find the keys of salvation through the process of becoming Christ through a process of gnosis.

Wonderful image--and Lorraine, that's getting close to Buddhism, isn't it??--not hte 'salvation, but similar (I have read some of the gnostic 'gospels', but don't remember them, I have to admit).
