I think you are off to a great start with this image :o) As I don't do postwork as such only minor repairs lol there are no suggestions I can make sorry but am sure there are heaps of others who will Chris :o)

think your getting there! do you have a tablet? and do you have photoshop? if so the first suggestion i would make is to make yourself some special brushes for hair painting, you can buy sets of brushes but if im honest for all of my hair painting i use one brush! and i made it ;) drop me a message and ive give you some tips if you wish...great start
