Description

Okay, I'm sitting here at my college, at the computer lab. On the other computer across from me, a student is being helped by our student workers (what a joy). And of course, we run WinXP here. I really don't like it you see, but we do it anyway. But what happened was the Excel sheet the student was working in decided to crash and they lost all the data they had done. The worker was trying to help, but it was futile to do so, and ended up telling the student that the data could not be recovered. Then I made the crack to my friends over here: "Windows Happens". Why we don't run Linux, I'll never know. Anyway, with the pic, think Forrest Gump, running along in the movie, and says, of course "Sh!t happens." Of course I added my rant, but ya can't blame me for that.

Cute image, sentiments; effective statement. You should send it to the Lindows people. As to the problem you described, that was also true running Symphony (an upgrade from 1-2-3) under DOS. Then as now, the spreadsheet could not be recovered. Then as now, the answer is to "Save" more often than once per day -- even applies to Poser, etc.

So I would assume by this situation that if a similar set of data were to crash in Linux, it would be recoverable? And I don't mean from an old save file.
