Description

There is double meaning to this post. One... I don't know what this new bug on net is like but I was hacked.... hacked in a ruthless manner. Someone entered my disc and deleted the programs folder and windows folder and when I tried to reboot, ofcourse it gave a read error. When I took out the hard drive and browsed it in another PC, I realised there were only few lame folders left in my C: drive and the rest of the stuff simply dumped out. If this is the work of a BUG, then I am not sure. My great loss.... I lost around 5000 pics of all the beautiful flowers and bugs that I had so fondly saved for future posts. My one big mistake, I din't take a back up as I took everything for granted... so I paid a heavy price. This bug I saw mounted on the bright flower yesterday morning when I was in one of the busiest of market places. I was quick enough to jump to my Cam and Shoot the fella down, with my Cam. Dear friends, please maintain caution regarding your PC, Virus Scans and firewalls. Remember to back up as much as you can and as soon as you can. Loss like mine are never recoverable, I can not go back in time...... but I will continue with my venture in future... no looking back;) A big Thanks to Renderosity and it's management and all the wonderful members who visit here. Thanks for allowing me to maintain this gallary, atleast, this much is saved. :O)) HAPPY VAL'S DAY TO YOU ALL!! SNAKEY

Jeez Snakey, that's a serious downer. My sympathies, at least you have the few here to start again with. Thanks for the heads up, I think we all get a little complacent at times. I'm going to back up some stuff over the next little bit I've been putting off. Thanks, mate.

I feel your pain for I had the same thing happen but it wasn't a bug nor virus for it was a hacker or should I say a group of hackers that call themselves "the masters of deception" they are a rogue group that operate world wide in joint efforts to destroy any personal computer or company in its path. I myself lost five computers at once....harddrives that is and all resources that were on them.... Good luck in the future, my suggestion is makes your firewall settings are up and running properly and before you accept any inbound alerts read them carefully...now on your image..XLT shot!!!!what camera or you currently using? ~Chris~

Perhaps you can find a recovery program? When data is deleted it still exist on your hard disk. Only the computer can't find it. As long as you don't format your disk or write something on it, it's possible to recover your lost pictures. Try a Google search for recovery program. There also some companies who are experts on these matters. Hope this helps! Great shot.

Thanks madleine for the tip. My brother who works for the Indian Army is already working on the recovery part of it. It seems they have a program designed to read disks that have even been formatted and which is not for commercial use. Hoping for the best.;)

I also feel your pain :( It's a sad, sad thing to lose one's hard work, 'specially art. I truely hope it can be recovered. This, however is a fantastic shot and that is one big bug!

I think it's horrid that people can be so nasty. I know I'm in trouble because I can't back things up.. My CD burner is not working. Every day I'm online I'm aware I could lose it all.. which really hurts.. but this bug..in your photo.. he is innocent.. although he may sting..he looks like a wasp. He's very cute LOL

Beautifull photo. Yes you have to be careful these time : viruses are particulary numerous. I received the same trojan (I think it allows to enter someone else's computer)twice last week, and the second time it came in a mail from Renderosity's ebot... The admins are warned.

Yeah, this is a great sad story, hope the recovery software brings something! If I'm not mistaken this is a big hornet-wasp, its sting is very apropriate to your story :( Wish you strength!!

Happy Valiumday. Man, thats horror. I am burning the stuff on cd/dvd. But last month they tested DVD after there where burned. The results did not make me feel my pics where save :( Shitty thing to lose so much work, but youre sun will give you energy to recover and strike back, hard. Red insect like this I have never seen, Lovely.

Rocker 64 speaks with wisdom. I've lost so many things. Old record collection most painful. But, you are a creator and will continue to make new art. I use a spare hard drive on a low end machine on my home network. it stays OFF 99% of the time, until archive event. Cheap. Secure. Large Capacity. Think about it. Great Shot!

Owwwww ...so sorry to hear of the sting. I hope some recovery lotion eases the pain and a restoration takes place soon. Your photography makes the Creator's work come alive to us so wonderfully. I pray your Indian Army brother (or someone else with a similar program) will help you re-stock of the flower shop. Blessings!!

An excellent reminder for everyone! Lovely image, me thinks Papa is right about it being a wasp, leaves a painful sting, yes I see the parallels. I do hope that your bro can fix your puter! :'(

First off, Excellent shot of the bug! Second, a good way to keep your photos and make copies of copies of them is to go to Wal-Mart and get your pictures burned on CD. You can do it with film or digital. That's one thing I found out! I just love your bug flower picture!!

What a hack?! Viruses, worms and hackers! Mild heavens! Thanks for warning! It's breaking into my brain now, your bug it is. Horrible and amazing!
Soooooooooooo sorry for your loss! I don't know the feeling, I was just big time scared once. My machine has been attacked, though my 3 firewalls. My 30000 picks were miraculously spared. I went through hell than. Now I have both hardware and software for protection and HD backup. CD sucks big time, nothing I recommend. One little scratch and you just lost your precious work!
