Description
I am reading a book called "The Poet's Companion A Guide to the Pleasures of Writing Poetry" and it said to look and listen to the world around you and write what you know. Well everynight i hear my sister, sometimes she's laughing and other times she's crying so i decided to try writing about her. here is what i came up with.
It Ends in Sleep
2/15/04
Every night I hear you
The muffled sound of your voice
From behind the wooden door
And through the plaster walls
Two rooms down
I cannot make out your words
But I hear
The lyric of the night
Sometimes you cry
And I feel your tears
Warm and salt tainted
Sometimes you laugh
And my heart is light
Bringing joy to my life
But either way
All is forgotten
Of conversations
Peace is upon you
And protects you where you lay
No tears nor joy invade
Only soothing rest
For, it ends in sleep
