Excellent, though the sky is a bit too red IMHO. Terrain, colors, clouds and mood are awesome.

XLT!! I would have added more red to the sky, especially up close, only because their is supposedly (if this is mordor in LOTR), a Mount Doom, and it spews out fire. So, i would think more red! I love this picture, the many different colours, the many terrain ground covers and wonderful mountains!! Great Job!! :D

Woohoo, thanks for all the great comments on our picture. We are very happy that you like it so much! Regarding the sky: we tried to manage a dark grey sky, with scaring clouds and a moody red atmo in the far distance, lighting through the clouds ... haven't had much success ... It is a bit difficult to achieve with only one cloud layer and not so much control over the atmo. But thanks anyway for the good ranking! RU

Wow! I love this! Very appropriate! I don't have any complaints whatsoever about the sky or anything else. It adds to the unusual mood. Here's what you do for the sky you wanted: make the sky color dark gray. Make the decay reddish (which will actually give you purple under the circumstances). If you change your sun color toward blue, and make your cloud/mist color more reddish, that may also help. You just have to play with the settings.
