Description
New technique test. I found a Shania Twain's photo from a magazine. I gridded the photo and then made onscreen black and white map from it -- kind of value map. Then I painted over it and finished with Paint Shop Pro Smudge.
You could say this is masochist's way to do a photo manipulation -- only I lost most of the likeness... :)
I don't think this is good technique, but I the grid method has possibilities...

I kind of like the result! It definitely doesn't look like a photo manip! More like a wacom tablet drawing!

Good excercise Markku! Maybe a little to smeary, but as Titta says, no manipulation but painting feeling.

Very nice painting, Markku! Next time, try colorizing the photo to blues while in value sketch mode. It will help show the distinctions of the tones better than a grayscale or b/w. But y'know...I like the hair. grin

I think it is wonderful.I love the color of her lips and the effects on the hair. I think it is great that you explore the possibilities of other methods and the more you fool with them , the more you cam apply to your work :D Excellent!

Many thanks for your comments. Nice style. Reminiscent of soft focus photo techniques using grease smeared on the lens. Excellent work!
