Just another struggling artist with a passion for 3D computer graphics. I was first inspired by the works of Jean Giraud (a.k.a. Moebius) of "Heavy Metal" fame, hence the tribute in my online moniker. My 3D CGI tool of choice is LightWave, but I have recently started mucking about with digital photography. Other tools include Vue Infinite and DAZ|Studio. I also work in Photoshop and CorelDraw to cover the 2D graphics stuff.
I don't have too much patience for setting up final renders, because my interests lie in modeling. "Non-organic" modeling, or "hard surface" modeling, in the sci-fi genre to be specific. So the bulk of the images in my gallery are modeling WIP's and design studies, the rest are photos and a few quick sketches. I consider myself a hobbyist, because I am still at a level where my skills definitely need a lot more improvement.
I'm an architect by training, and work as Studio Manager for an architectural/interiors design office. I was born, raised and educated in the Philippines, but am currently based in Bangkok, Thailand where I live my wife, "Kanittha", our son "Nio" and our cat "Samuel".
Thank you very much for looking up my page.

Once again i'm impressed my friend...You must have a great amount of petience to creat such a masterpiece...Hope to hear from you soon....Congrats.---Kostas.

Great stuff !!! you're right about the monotony of the river bank... maybe making it less straight would help :)
jarm
How about a sewage/garbage pipeline snaking off to a refinery in the horizon

Impressive work Moe! As for the sky - I guess that depends on the mood you want to convey. Bright sunny blue might seem kind of twee (although it'd certainly allow better view of the building detail and give you some scope with the water) but overcast gray might be too depressing. Dramatic sunsets are too easy and cliche, perhaps a night time setting? Of course then the global illumination would be a problem... Don't make much difference either way - the set is amazing by itself. :)

It's looking great Moe! You do need to break up the bank more though. I think a bit of irregularity there or the piping you spoke of would do quite nicely. I'm seeing a sepia tinged sky in this too.

Looks great .. one critic tho .. a small one .. the shore is to even, hmmm .. that is if its supposed to be a natural one
ObsidianLogic
i know this sounds dum but what a bout over cast gray with like sunlight trying to break through showing a kind of putred yellow green cast ...polution any way this is so complex i bet your just as complex wonderful water included
3D_Explorer
Holy Moe-ly. Amazing in it's detail and complexity. If this is the WIP, can't wait to see the final.
MINTY1974
I think the river looks fine, it just needs a few objects to break up the repetition i.e. wharves, ships etc. Very nice work so far.
TristM
Pheeeewwww...that is some pretty detaile and meticulous modeling you have going there. Great work! Love how you've included details such as the HVAC on the buildings and suspension cables on the bridge!
Drakath
Yes! How about some boats or ships on the river?
imaje
sweet moses. i would have thought it were a few million polygons, so kudos on the polycount. 2500 surfaces.. wow. that would probably drive me insane. well, it's looking really impressive. can't wait to see the finished piece.
daeve
Man! That's alot of surfaces! How did you count them all???;) Looking good, bud! Perhaps some aquatic traffic? I look ahead to the next progression. :-)
Ajax
Looking good, Moe. How about some docks and jetties reaching out into the water? Cranes for unloading ships? I agree the shore needs to be broken up a bit. Also, river access is a valuable commodity and I can't see dystopians protecting it as environment rather than exploiting it to hell.
bowen
Looking very cool sir moe, I cant wait to see the final render :o)
Darkmagi
Looking good Moe, I agree with you on the lights, the position is just right for the bridge shadow, the shadows from the buildings too a really good adding even more to the busey dense atmosphere. I like the idea of the sewage works, maybe some dockish area or moorings etc. Looking forward to the next WIP.
Modulok
Very impressive Moe. I'd love to orbit around this thing just to admire the details of your labor!
Crasher
Moe, you never cease to amaze me with those models. Amazing.

Have Mercy!! thats quite a project. For my big mouth IMHO - I agree with the ones who think a river would be exploited and heavily used. Civilization has a way of wanting to control their rivers; channelization is one common way. Whats a river wirhout a marina - and the rich folks to build artificial islands for their billion dollar buildings, isolation in the middle of chaos. Your bridge is fixed so you must not be planning heavy shipping above that point. I suspect modern city planners wish that warves and garbage flows were planned for well downriver from city center ... floating turds tends to put a damper on recreational water use; Like fishing & boating. Most cities put lots of effort into river side access for recreation, walking - jogging, cycling, rape ... The latter reuires lighting and safe havens. Whatever you do no doubt at all that it will be terrific. BTW; Will that be a freebie?
Teobaldo
Yeah, yeah, Moebius. A very big and polluted city, eh? Don't stop until complete the scene. Very good.
lahavana
Well, Senor Moe, you've done it again - another one of your awesome cities... i got an idea - an AQUATIC city!!! what'da ya think???? :)
Smitthms
Looks awesome Moe :o) Thomas

The waterline could use some foliage and trees. Perhaps palms if it is a southern setting. Add some boats and ships, a sky and its an excellent piece of work. :)
ShadowWind
You are definitely the man, couldn't model like this ever I don't think. As for the sky, I think a autumn color, like yellow to brown would be best, maybe with the sun on the horizon to the left. Just a thought...
scarab1
Super Cityscape!! Looks pretty wicked so far.... A sky with some distant haze would look wicked!! purhaps a light misty sort of blue??
Swaroop
Could u please postwork teh sky? RAnking=excellent
oooZENOooo
Moe, this just gets better, excellent my friend
billy-home
Nice work mate, a lot of city blocks in there, keep on posting the WIP's, it's interesting to see this evolve.

I've posted the final version of this image on the box for the product, right here. Thanks for all the support and input. :o)
