Description
Purposeless plunking in Poser and Photoshop produced this peculiar piece.
--
The 'Charger' robot from Daz, postworked with a variant on Riddokun's 'yohushading' technique. I was going to add an AnimeDoll in a flight suit in the foreground, but realized that a) it would cover up one of the feet and I wanted both showing, and b) I don't have a flight suit for the AnimeDoll. So the robot will have to do.

An excellent variation on that technique! (perhaps you should share what you did differently >_<) I wish I had something to critique - but its just too cool.

I did a full render of the figure in addition to the cartoon-with-line renders, then put it through 'posterize' in Photoshop (either 16 or 32 colors, I forget which). The rest was compositing, and I didn't bother to remember the exact process because it'll almost certainly be different for the next pic I do this with; but basically it involved several recombinations of the outline and the shading layers, with different layer effects, and a little bit of contrast modification. I do wish I had the patience to put this into a scene...

Very cool image, gives me a cool idea...will have to think about it. Best thing, in my opinion, about looking at other artists works, is that it sometimes gives you great inspiration. You just did that to me.Thx.

wooow it is cute (i wonder if "cute" is correct for a mecha, bah i don't care :) Would not have imagined my lame postwork trick could be used like that...

Dunno... there's a few BattleMechs that could be classified as 'cute'... in a 'metallic-bringer-of-death' sort of way... er... ok, don't mind me.
