"Who is that girl? Don't listen to her, brothers and sisters! Look at the other peoples in the east who had cities and grew corn and vegetables! The whites came and burnt the fields as far as the eye could see. Then they burnt the cities with everyone inside. And if we lived in fixed dwellings again as our forefathers once did, how were we to follow the buffalo if we couldn't move our homes any more? No, brothers and sisters, keep your tipis but make sure they are covered with hides and not this woodlands bark crap. Not enough trees on the whole prairy to get enough birch for our teepes. And besides, it looks really ugly as compared to our beautifully painted teepees. Running Bear, tell us, are you really one of us or are you a white woman? Where did you get this strange loincloth?
